What brought you to Resilient Women’s Organization?

Our lives have not been easy because our mum abandoned us when we were babies. Our dad is disabled and he could not take care of us. Later we moved in with our grandma who also died leaving us without any guardian. We have had little education and have no home of our own. We stayed with our older sister for a while but she would starve us unless we agreed to go into prostitution to get more money.

We were overjoyed when we heard of this program where we can be educated and have a bed to sleep in, so my sisters and I jumped at the opportunity. We were overjoyed.

What is your favourite craft or skill that you learn with Resilient Women?

We love learning hairdressing.

What goals do you have for your future?
Olivia: My dream is to one day be in a position to help my family and those in need, plus counselling girls like me and teaching them some of the skills I will learn so that they can sustain their families.

Justine, 18 years old: My dream is to be financially independent so that I will not be hungry or without shelter again

Susan: I dream about starting my own business after learning at the organisation so that I can make money and help my family.

If you got a sponsor, what would you do with their support in order to achieve these goals?

Olivia: If I had a support from a sponsor it would help me buy equipment to help run a hairdressing and beauty salon.

Justine: With help from a sponsor, I would open up a hardware shop.

Susan: With help, I would kick start my own business like a boutique (clothes shop) or start a poultry farm to sustain my life.
